NEW STEM FACILITIES AT MOUNT ELIZA SECONDARY COLLEGE

An Albanese Labor Government will deliver $1.5 million in funding to create a Science, Technology and Creativity Innovations Centre of Excellence for students from Mount Eliza Secondary College.

Peta Murphy MP, Member for Dunkley and Labor previously committed $1 million to this project in 2019. Whilst the Morrison Government did not match this commitment, Peta is pleased to reaffirm her support for the project.

This commitment will allow Mount Eliza Secondary College to redevelop the existing science laboratories, which are largely in their original state from the 1970s. The funds will go towards opening the space currently occupied by the laboratories, preparation and storage rooms.

The new Centre will be a space where students can learn about physics, chemistry, biology, environmental science, robotics and mathematics.

The Centre will also be made available to students from Mount Eliza Primary School, Mount Eliza North Primary School and Kunyung Primary School.

Peta and Labor are proud to support STEM programs in schools, where students will learn skills for the jobs of the future.

This announcement reaffirms an Albanese Labor Government’s commitment to deliver a Better Future for Australian families and children.
